Make a Kit of emergency supplies: Include medication & medical supplies, documents, food, water, supplies for your animals, etc. 3. Go to the closest emergency shelter (Canton Civic Center, 1101 Market Ave. North) 4. Stay Informed: Listen to media reports. SAVING TAX PAYERS DOLLARS OSNABURG DITCH CLEANING The week of June 11, 2012, the Eslich family who own Eslich Wrecking of Louisville and Stark C & D Landfill, located in Osnaburg Township donated excavating equipment and manpower to clean portions of Osnaburg Ditch in the Village of East Canton saving thousands of public dollars. Mayor Kathleen Almasy wishes to recognize this generous donation made by the Richard Eslich Family. 5.Spay and Neuter Program Feral Cats Running At Large In the last few years the Village of East Canton has seen an increase of Stray Feral Cats in the community. Cats, although a good animal to have around, left to multiply can cause some unwanted behavior. For this reason the Council of the Village of East Canton considered an ordinance requiring owner responsibility for those feeding feral cats. Former Mayor McGee thought it better to offer a solution rather than try and enforce an ordinance. Mayor McGee working with private citizen Al Lazarto researched different agencies that may offer a humane solution to address the over population of feral cats. Thus an agency was found who offers a Spay and Neuter Program at a nominal fee. Spay $50.00 and Neuter $40.00. (Prices subject to change). The Agency Animal Protection Guild Low Cost Spay Neuter Program. This program is not available to pet owners that have acquired their pets from a breeder or breeder outlet. Contact Information: 330-649-0443- Brochures available at village hall. To help defray cost with the Spay and Neuter Program, Village of East Canton is actively seeking grant money to support this program (look for details as they become available). 6.NEXT OF KIN EMERGENCY CONTACT INFORMATION Through the Next of Kin Emergency Contact Information Program, Ohioans can identify the person they choose to be notified in the event they are involved in an accident or emergency leaving them unable to communicate with law enforcement or emergency medical responders. Registry. Two emergency contacts can be added into the N.O.K. Registry to be used by law enforcement in the event the child becomes lost or is reported missing. If the child is ever involved in an emergency situation or otherwise unable to communicate, law enforcement will use the N.O.K. information to notify these emergency contacts. 6.For more information regarding child IDs visit http://bmv.ohio.gov and click on ID R Kids. Reduce waste, conserve resources and save money by choosing to reuse! 1) Buy Used, Surplus, Refurbished & Remanufactured Goods - Whether you need a kitchen cabinet, dress, or toner cartridge; you can green your purchases by visiting local reuse organizations first. Plus you can save 75% off retail. 2) Choose Durables over Disposables - Disposable products add convenience, but consider just one aspect of this market - bottled water: Americans buy 29 billion single serve bottles of water each year, and 75% are thrown out right after use. Use durables such as reusable shopping bags, cloth napkins, and refillable containers. 3) Rent or Borrow Instead of Buying - Consider renting or borrowing items that you will use only infrequently. This may include trailers, camping and gardening equipment, and power tools. 4) Buy in Bulk, rather than Single-Serve - While single-serving foods might be appealing, they are a waste of resources and money. Buy large quantities, and put the contents into small, reusable containers. 5) Zero Waste Meals - When you are packing a lunch, be sure to plan ahead. By packing a waste-free lunch using reusable containers youll reduce your impact on the earth. 6) Consider Reselling - Got clutter? Need to earn a little extra money? Consider holding a yard sale, listing items on Craigslist, or bringing them to your local consignment shop. 7) Donate it, dont dump it - Give your old stuff new life by contributing it to worthy organizations. Clothing, electronics, home furnishings, and building materials are just a few items that can be donated to reuse organizations, which locally include The Stock Pile, Goodwill, The Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanitys ReStore, and others. 8) Compost Your Food Scraps - Make your own compost. By composting your food scraps and yard trimmings you can dramatically reduce the amount of waste you generate and improve your garden at the same time. 9) Reuse Your Rain Water - If you want to save on your water bills, use a rain water barrel to collect water for your garden. This also helps reduce storm water runoff on your property. 10) Leave it on the Lawn - Want a healthier lawn? Using a mulching mower and leave your clippings there- its better for your lawn and our environment. The program features are: 1.Its free! There is no fee to add contact information to your drivers license/permit/ID record. 2.Contact information will be stored in a secure database which holds Ohio drivers license/ID information, accessed only by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles &law enforcement. 3.For Ohioans age 18 and older, the contact person can be a relative, friend, or co-worker. 4.Those under age 18 are required to have a parent or legal guardian as their primary contact. 5.For children with an ID, under the age of 15, parents are encouraged to sign up for the N.O.K. Registry. Two emergency contacts can be added into the N.O.K. Registry to be used by law enforcement in the event the child becomes lost or is reported missing.
